Canada Canada Barbara (Bobbie) Boehm, 2014 After a life well lived, Barbara (Bobbie) Boehm, 95, Vancouver, BC Canada, passed away on Friday, July 5th 2024, surrounded by family and close friends. Creating a loving family was the driving force in Bobbie’s life, guided by her deep religious faith. She was happiest when her family was together sharing life events (reunions, birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, holidays, cruises). She had a wry sense of humor, enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and had many hobbies including worldwide travel, her library book club, knitting, games of cribbage and her university women’s group. She was actively involved in her community and volunteered her time in Girl Scouts and Girl Guides and was recently recognized for over 65 years of service. Mrs Joan Howell, 2008 Joan joined Girl Guiding Canada- like many as a Brownie leader when her daughter joined. As time went on, she was elected to the National Council and went on to become the Chief Commissioner for Canada. She often told the story of enrolling a Guider somewhere in Canada and using the Brownie promise – as the first one she learned I guess it was her fallback! After her term as Chief Commissioner finished, Joan was on several WAGGGS committees for many years. Here in Canada as a post Girl Guiding job, she became to CEO of a nursing home.
